Read our official Wilderness Treatment Center review. Wilderness Treatment Center is a 60+ day inpatient chemical dependency treatment program for teens and young men between the ages of 14 and 24. Widely known as one of the first and finest wilderness based addiction therapy programs in the world, Wilderness Treatment Center has been successfully treating adolescent and young men with substance abuse disorder for the past 35 years on a 6000 acre ranch in Montana. We combine a conventional inpatient residential treatment program leveraging the principles embodied in the 12 Steps with a 16-21 day therapeutic expedition. Each step toward sobriety is carefully managed and addressed through individual and group therapy as well as family, equine, recreational and wilderness therapies. Blending traditional and experiential therapies, the young men and their families create a new beginning, a new freedom, and a new happiness. Services The costs cover: all room, board, individual therapy, morning meditation, family therapy, psychoeducational lectures, recreation therapy, training sessions, equine therapy, wilderness trip, ropes course, family week, transportation to AA meetings, doctor visits, physicals, family consultations, psychologist reviews, nurse visits, wilderness equipment, 2.5 Academic credits and airport pickup and departure. Private insurance is accepted, and we are in-network with many Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO plans. Family Week We understand that addiction is a family disease. Involving the family in our program is an essential step toward recovery for each of our young men and is the primary purpose of our 4 and a half day family program we host at our facility each month. This highly rated aspect of treatment not only strengthens the resolve of the patients by recognizing the impact the disease has had, it allows the family an opportunity to begin their own healing process. Continuing Care We work with some of the best after-care programs in the country and will assess each client for the right program recommendation prior to discharge that is based on number of specific criteria. Our continuing care team works with families throughout the treatment process to ensure that a recovery plan is in place.
